Data Deletion Instructions

At SORTL, you are always in control of your data. This page explains how you can delete your account and the information we store about you.

1. What Happens When You Delete Your Account?

When you request account deletion, we permanently remove:

  • Your SORTL account and login information.
  • All uploaded or forwarded documents (bills, receipts, contracts, warranties, etc.).
  • All extracted metadata, reminders, and AI insights linked to your account.
  • All AI embeddings or derived internal representations created from your documents.

After your deletion request is processed, your data cannot be recovered. We complete the deletion within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain limited records (for example, for fraud prevention or bookkeeping).

2. Delete Your Data from Inside the App (Recommended)

You can initiate full deletion directly from the SORTL app:

  1. Open the SORTL app on your device.
  2. Go to Settings in the main menu.
  3. Select Delete Account (or similar option).
  4. Confirm that you want to permanently delete your account and all data.

Once confirmed, your account is marked for deletion and all associated documents and metadata will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

3. Request Deletion by Email

If you no longer have access to the app, you can ask us to delete your data by email. Please use the email address associated with your SORTL account.

Send an email to:

Include the following information:

  • Your full name (as used in SORTL, if applicable).
  • The email address linked to your SORTL account.
  • A short statement such as: “I request deletion of my SORTL account and all associated data.”

We may contact you to verify your identity before processing the request, to protect your account from unauthorized deletion.

4. WhatsApp & Email Data Deletion

SORTL only processes WhatsApp or email content that you intentionally forward to us. These forwarded messages and attachments are treated as documents in your account.

When you delete your account (or when we complete a deletion request), all WhatsApp- forwarded and email-forwarded documents, including their extracted metadata and AI insights, are also permanently removed within 30 days.

5. Partial Deletion – Removing Individual Documents

If you prefer not to delete your entire account, you can delete specific documents:

  1. Open the SORTL app.
  2. Navigate to the document you want to remove.
  3. Use the Delete option within the document view or menu.

Deleting a document removes it and its associated metadata and insights from your account. This action cannot be undone.

6. How Long Deletion Takes

We begin processing deletion requests as soon as they are received or triggered from within the app. In most cases, deletion is completed much sooner, but we ask you to allow up to 30 days for all backups and internal systems to reflect the deletion.
